Sunday Morning Bible Studies for all ages!
Adult Bible
Fellowship is a vital ministry of Texas Oaks Baptist Church
designed to teach the Scriptures in a small group setting, minister to the
needs of people through personal contact, and provide fellowship within
the individual groups. Like other ministries at Texas Oaks Baptist Church, the Adult Bible Fellowship
is more than a program; it is a ministry of people touching the lives of
other people.
We also offer a graded Children's Sunday School from the Cradle roll to the Teen Department. We exist to edify children's lives through the systematic teaching of God's Word. We understand the importance of building children's lives from birth. We are continuing to make improvements, not only to our teaching styles, but also our facilities.
Adult Bible Fellowship and our Children's Sunday School meet Sunday mornings from 9:30 - 10:30AM.
Men's Ministry - Iron Men
As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another...
(Prov. 27:17)
The Men's Ministry of Texas Oaks Baptist Church gives the men of our church (ages 16 and up) opportunities to experience growth as well as fun in a positive environment. Each month we have a men's prayer breakfast on the first Saturday at 8:00 A.M. (I know, it's EARLY! But come out and join us. We have a great time of fellowship, AND we always have good Food!) .
We also have a wide variety of events that take place regularly to enhance our involvement in worship, ministry, evangelism, fellowship and discipleship.
Women's Ministry
The heart of our Women’s Ministry is to provide multiple ministry opportunities for women, with enough variety that any woman can find something that fits her interests and schedule. We would love you to join us for any or ALL of our Winter 2010 events (all events meet at the church, except for prayer groups) :
- Bible Study. Starting January 26 th, we will be working through the study book, “Romans: Grace, Truth and Redemption” by John MacArthur. Each study book is only $8.00 (includes all shipping and handling)! Get a sneak peak at the study by checking out the Grace to You website: http://www.gty.org/Shop/Bible+Study+Books/452202. This Bible study is offered Tuesday evenings from 7:00 pm to 8:15 pm. It’s never too late to join! If you are interested in this study, please contact Connie Hendon at 312-9911 or conniewithpremier@yahoo.com for all the details.
- Woman's Missionary Union (WMU) is an "umbrella" organization emphasizing missions, both local and abroad. Throughout the year WMU will be leading TOBC in focusing on different geographical areas of Missions such as the Annie Armstrong Mission Emphasis for the North American Missions, the Mary Hill Davis Mission Emphasis for Texas Missions, and the Lottie Moon Mission Emphasis for overseas missions. Through the year, we will have two ongoing WMU sponsored events: Our Missions Explorers and our Reading Roundtable book club.
- This Winter, our Missions Explorers will focus on Austin-based, Baptist missionary organizations. Our meetings are every 2 nd Tuesday of the month at 10:00 am and will usually be in the form of a field trip. The group will also pray for missionaries whose birthdays fall on the days we meet. If you are interested in Missions Explorers, please contact Marjorie Pricket at 292-3746 or mprickett@austin.rr.com.
- Our Reading Roundtable starts back up again on January 16 th and every third Saturday of the month thereafter. If you love to read, this is the group for you! The group will be finishing with “Mary” in the “Lineage of Grace” series by Francine Rivers. She, like other famous Biblical women, was faced with an extraordinary, even scandalous, challenge and took great personal risk to fulfill her calling. Unquestionably, she was destined to play a key role in the lineage of Jesus Christ, the Savior of the World. If you are interested in this group, contact Alaina Torrey at 415-8940 or alaina.torrey@yahoo.com.
- “Yada Yadah” Prayer Groups. What does this mean, anyway!?! “Yada” = “to know and to be known”; “Yadah” = “God”. If you are ready to know and be known by an intimate group of ladies and by God, we would love to have you join one of our groups. We currently have 5 groups in and around south Austin, including the Buda and Kyle area. If you are interested in more information and the specific locations and meeting times of these groups, please contact Cathy Torrey at 292-7907 or cathy.torrey@yahoo.com.
- “Mosaic” (formerly called “Craft Night”). Why the change in name? A “mosaic” is a diverse group (of ladies!) coming together to create a beautiful picture! That’s really what we strive to be! You don’t have to be working on a craft to join in, however, every quarter we will try to have an “expert” come in and teach us different specialty crafts (knitting, crocheting, cake decorating, etc). Mosaic will continue to meet the 4 th Friday of every month at 6:00 pm. We would love for you to join us! Please contact Denise San Luis at 312-2422 or dsanluis@austin.rr.com with any questions.

Discipleship: C.P.A = Content, Principle, Application
On Sunday, May 4th, at 6PM, TOBC members commenced a the CPA Bible Study program designed to assist Christians in a daily Bible Study that uses one passage of Scripture for one week.
Days 1, 2, and 3 are utilized to study the CONTENT (What does the passage say?).
Day 4 is utilized to determine at least one PRINCIPLE (What does the passage mean?,
Day 5 is used to make APPLICATION (What am I going to do about it?).
Day 6 is used to compare with commentaries as you study your Scripture lesson,
and Day 7 is used for review and sharing.

Pastor James leading our second meeting. We had 20 in attendance.
It is never too late to join us for this comprehensive Bible Study that will help us all grow in the knowledge of the Lord's Word. We will be meeting each Sunday evening to continue our study in the scriptures. |
NOTE: CPA classes have been suspended while we conduct studies in the scriptures; usually related to the topic of the Sermon preached that morning.

Music Ministry
The Music Ministry of Texas Oaks Baptist Church exists for one reason: to exalt and glorify Almighty God.
How lovely is Your dwelling place, O Lord Almighty!
My soul yearns, even faints for the courts of the Lord;
My heart and my flesh cry out for the living God.
(Psalm 84:1)
The Bible tells us that music is a gift from God that is to be used to worship Him, and there are many instances in the Scriptures of people being called to use music to express their heartfelt worship for the Lord. Each Sunday, as we gather for corporate worship, the Music Ministry will seek to provide an opportunity for each person in attendance to utilize the gift of music to express the cry of their hearts and the yearning of their souls.
There are many opportunities for each member of the congregation to be involved in the Music Ministry. Whether it be singing in the congregation, being a part of the Praise Team, or playing an instrument, we want every person to use the gifts God has given them to bring glory to Him.
Together, we perform not for each other, but for an audience of One: the King of kings and Lord of lords.
 |
Praise Team is open to everyone in our congregation and has the privilege of leading the congregation in worship on Sunday mornings. The Praise Team practices on Sunday evenings from 5:00 to 6:00 P.M., and rehearses Sunday mornings from 8:30 to 9:15 A.M. |

Senior Men’s Breakfast Ministry
The Senior Men of Texas Oaks Baptist Church meet at 9:00 am on the first Monday of each month (with exceptions for holidays or other conflicts) for a time of fellowship and food. This is a loosely organized group without a scheduled agenda. The discussions cover the life experiences of the men, projects each may be involved in at the moment, the needs of the church and any other topic worthy of discussion including the solution of the world’s problems. The breakfast varies from home cooked specialties, hot off the church stove fares, a visit to a local restaurant or the home of any man who can convince his wife to host the breakfast.
Any man who is available at 9:00 a.m. on the first Monday of the month is invited to join in the discussion and the delicious breakfasts which are usually held at the church. Watch the Sunday Bulletins for any changes in date or place. You may contact Billy McCarty at 444-8165 or by email at themccartys2@sbcglobal.net for additional information.
